DURING THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, IF THERE IS ANYTHING YOU NEED, PLEASE EMAIL ME AT CECCATTIK@CATTYSD.ORG OR GO TO THE LINK I POSTED ON YOUR CHILD'S GOOGLE CLASSROOM PAGE AND YOU CAN LET ME KNOW HOW BEST TO REACH YOU.

PLEASE KNOW THAT IT HAS BEEN AN HONOR TO WORK WITH YOUR CHILD THIS YEAR AND I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THEIR BRIGHT FACES NEXT SCHOOL YEAR!!

MOST SINCERELY,

Starting in September, I will be an 8 week series of PATHS (Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies).  Some of the goals of this program include:

1. Increasing children's abilities to thing and solve problems for themselves
2. Increasing children's abilities to use their thinking skills to act responsively and maturely
3. Improving children's understanding of themselves
4. Improving children's feelings about themselves
5. Increasing children's abilities to learn more effectively in the classroom environment

In Kindergarten we learn how to do "Turtle" when students are feeling out of control, angry, upset or any other uncomfortable feeling.  The trick to doing "Turtle" correctly, is to use it BEFORE a bad choice is made either with words or actions.  Ask your child about "Turtle"!  It's a skill they can use at home too!

We will also be explaining to students how everyone in our school needs to feel safe in order to learn the best.  We will cover our bully prevention rules through stories and role-playing, so students learn what is helpful behaviors and what are hurtful behaviors.  We also will spend a few weeks learning about community careers and having them start to think about their future careers!

I also like to get different agencies in to teach our Kindergarteners about all kinds of things.  This year the CARON Foundation will be doing an 8 week lesson series on the I Can Problem Solve curriculum.  Again, students will learn ways to solve conflicts in a peaceful way and give them the confidence that they need to make good choices.

Because kindergarten students are only at school for half a day, they are unable to join the small counseling groups I run for 1st-4th graders.

If your student needs any support individually, you can either call or email me to discuss how I may be able to help you.  My phone number is 610-264-5601 (option #2) or email is ceccattik@cattysd.org.
