***4/9/20- SO TODAY WE LEARN THAT STUDENTS WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO SCHOOL FOR THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR.  I KNOW THIS NEWS WILL AFFECT STUDENTS DIFFERENTLY...I ALREADY HAD ONE PARENT SHARE THAT HER DAUGHTER CRIED WHEN SHE FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS CHANGE THIS MORNING.  YOUR CHILD MAY HAVE A VARIETY OF FEELINGS ABOUT THIS NEWS AND WE ARE HERE TO HELP SUPPORT THEM AND YOU, IN ANY WAY WE CAN!

I WOULD HAVE STARTED COMING INTO YOUR STUDENT'S CLASSROOM IN APRIL FOR MY CAREER LESSONS AND THEN IN MAY FOR MY CONFLICT RESOLUTION LESSONS.  I WILL BE TAPING THESE LESSONS AND POSTING THEM INTO YOUR CHILD'S GOOGLE CLASSROOM PAGE.  MY LESSONS ARE FOR FUN AND KNOWLEDGE- NO GRADING INVOLVED, HOWEVER, I WOULD LOVE IF YOU AND YOUR CHILD COULD WATCH THEM TOGETHER AND TALK ABOUT SOME QUESTIONS I'LL BE POSTING OUT AFTER EACH LESSON.

DURING THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, IF THERE IS ANYTHING YOU NEED, PLEASE EMAIL ME AT CECCATTIK@CATTYSD.ORG OR GO TO THE LINK I POSTED ON YOUR CHILD'S GOOGLE CLASSROOM PAGE AND YOU CAN LET ME KNOW HOW BEST TO REACH YOU.

PLEASE KNOW THAT IT HAS BEEN AN HONOR TO WORK WITH YOUR CHILD THIS YEAR AND I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THEIR BRIGHT FACES NEXT SCHOOL YEAR!!

MOST SINCERELY,

KIM

Students in 2nd grade will see me about 12 times a year for classroom guidance lessons.  I usually come in 3 times a year for 4-5 week lesson series.  Topics for these series include bullying prevention, conflict resolution and career development. Please know that we will be looking for parent volunteers to come in and share about their careers in the spring of each year when 2nd grade has their Career Day!

Also, each year your student will also get 8 weeks of the PATHS (Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies) program.  This is provided by exceptional facilitators from the CARON Foundation.

Your child is eligible to participate in my educational groups.  Groups are run during your child's lunchtime and last about 6-8 weeks.  Topics include anger management, impulse control, friendship skills, divorce support, and grief support.  Any child may participate in at least one group, but cannot do so without parental permission.  Permission slips are sent home with every student in September, but if it gets lost or you need a new one, just have your student come to my office to get a new one or you can call or email me and I will send it home.

Sometimes things come up during the school year where you may want me to see you child individually.  Sometimes you may need some support or resources due to circumstances.  As I say to the students, there is no such thing as a dumb question, so call or email me any time for any reason.  My phone number is 610-264-5601 (option #2) or email ceccattik@cattysd.org.
